Description

When successful businessman John Paine was diagnosed with ALS 15 years ago, he thought he had lost it all. However, in the midst of the painful physical deterioration of ALS, John discovered a transformation beyond anything he could have imagined. A story of hope beyond circumstances, John Paine learned to lean into God and in doing so, discovered true living. Now motivated by a desire to inspire and encourage others, John’s life is an example of how relinquishing control and intentionally living in the present are the keys to a successful life. As John continues to defy the odds of ALS, his courage and wisdom are uplifting countless others and providing hope in the midst of life’s trials.Told through interviews with John, along with his family, friends and business colleagues, The Luckiest Man challenges anyone facing difficult circumstances in life to look beyond their "diagnosis" and begin truly living.

Quotes

"When the foundation of your life is shaken, you have got to have something to stand on that won't move." - John Paine

"If I were given the opportunity to be fully healed and be able to hold my wife's hand again, put my arm around her, hug my grandchildren, pick up a cup of coffee, not have to drink it out of a straw, if I was able to be healed again and fully well, but in doing so I would have to go back to my former relationship with God. If I had that option, or I remain paralyzed, eventually will suffocate, but I got to experience this incredible relationship with God, I will tell you I would not hesitate. I will choose every time to maintain the relationship with God that I have today over anything because this is true living, and it's the reason I admonish men daily to not wait until they're dying before they start really living." - John Paine

"I consider myself one of the luckiest men in the world." - John Paine
