Description

This riveting 52-minute documentary chronicles the emotion-packed twists and turns of Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos' journey to broker peace, end a 50-year-old civil war, and win the Nobel Peace Prize—transforming the world’s former murder capital into a top destination for investors and tourists alike. The film features unprecedented access to Santos, his family, and leading Colombian officials, as well as interviews with former President Bill Clinton and Prime Minister Tony Blair. As Defense Minister, Santos waged war on FARC, a terrorist guerrilla movement, by hunting down its leaders and orchestrating dangerous hostage rescue missions that captured the world’s attention. As President, he negotiated peace with his former enemies, ending a war that left an estimated 260,000 dead and 8 million displaced. But peace came at a steep political price to the Colombian leader.
